Jennifer Lawrence Is A Russian Spy In Red Sparrow Trailer

If you're always confusing Jennifer Lawrence and Scarlett Johansson, this probably won't help.

There's a new trailer for Red Sparrow, a spy thriller from Hunger Games director Francis Lawrence, and Lawrence's character has kind of a lot in common with Johansson's Marvel character Black Widow. They're both recruited into top-secret Russian espionage agencies, they both become dangerous and conflicted and, well, Red Sparrow just sounds an awful lot like Black Widow.

In Red Sparrow, Lawrence plays Dominika Egorova, a devoted daughter and a prima ballerina who will do anything to protect her mother. When she suffers a career-ending injury, Dominika is manipulated into becoming a student at the Sparrow School, a secret intelligence service that trains young people to "use their bodies and minds as weapons," according to the synopsis. Dominika goes through a sadistic training process and turns out to be the most dangerous Sparrow in the history of the program. 

The new trailer has a lot more footage than the teaser released in the fall, and it has a little bit of a Black Swan thing going with the ballet and duality themes.

Red Sparrow, which co-stars Joel Edgerton, Jeremy Irons, Charlotte Rampling, Mary-Louise Parker, and Ciaran Hinds, will arrive in theaters on March 2.
