Watch The Eerie Teaser For The Handmaid's Tale Season 2
Hulu is going off book for The Handmaid's Tale season two. The streamer released the first teaser trailer for the show's upcoming sophomore outing early Sunday, teasing a new batch of episodes that are just as creepy and captivating as the first.
Based on the Margaret Atwood novel of the same name, The Handmaid's Tale stars Elisabeth Moss as Offred, a Handmaid in a near-future United States, which has devolved into the totalitarian Gilead. Offred and other women are given in service to Commanders, where their only responsibility is to bear children.
The Handmaid's Tale was Hulu's most watched premiere ever of both original and acquired series, and it has continued to build on its strong viewership by snapping up major awards, including the first Outstanding Drama Series Emmy ever awarded to a streaming service. The show also recently picked up Golden Globes for its star Moss and for Best Television Series- Drama.
The second season of the show will go beyond Atwood's source material and is set to focus on Offred's quest to find her missing daughter in Gilead, while also dealing with her pregnancy. Hulu's trailer didn't reveal many more specifics of the upcoming season, but it did show that it will be filled with even more intense and heart-wrenching moments.
Alexis Bledel, Samira Wiley, O.T. Fagbenle, Max Minghella, Jordana Blake, Joseph Fiennes, Ann Dowd, and Yvonne Strahovski also star in The Handmaid's Tale. The first two episodes of the 13-episode second season will debut on Hulu on April 25.
