Dove Cameron's Agents Of SHIELD Role Has Been Revealed
We finally know who Disney Channel starlet Dove Cameron will be playing on Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Entertainment Weekly shared the first look at the former Liv and Maddie star in costume for the ABC series, revealing that she will be playing Ruby, the daughter of Catherine Dent's General Hale.
General Hale first appeared in season five's fifth episode, "Rewind," which aired in December. The episode featured the high-level government agent harshly punishing two of her subordinates after Fitz (Iain de Caestecker) was able to escape the Blue Raven Ridge facility under their watch. It's unclear how exactly her daughter will fit into the plot, but Ruby is said to be "a young woman of cunning intelligence who has a mysterious obsession with Daisy Johnson (Chloe Bennet)."
Executive producer Jed Whedon previously teased that Cameron's role may be a bit unexpected for a former Disney Channel actress, saying, "she's not an obvious fit for [it]." Cameron is also known for her appearances in Disney Channel's Descendants series, as well as her starring role as Amber Von Tussle in NBC's Hairspray Live!.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. may not be the buzziest Marvel show on TV, but the series, which is currently in its fifth season, does hold the title for the top-rated series from the comic book giant on Rotten Tomatoes. Clark Gregg, Ming-Na Wen, Elizabeth Henstridge, Henry Simmons, Eve Harlow, Pruitt Taylor Vince, Jeff Ward, and Coy Stewart also star in the show.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. airs on Fridays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC. You can view the first look at Cameron in costume below. She is first set to appear in the March 2 episode.
