Hereditary Trailer Teases One Of The Year's Most Terrifying Movies
Sometimes it's not the house that's haunted, it's the family.
A24 released a trailer for Hereditary, the upcoming horror that had this year's Sundance Film Festival buzzing, and you can see why The Hollywood Reporter called the movie "the most effective domestic horror chiller since The Conjuring and The Babadook."
Written and directed by Ari Aster in his feature debut, the film centers on the Graham family who are in mourning after their reclusive grandmother dies. It's then that Annie (Toni Collette) begins to put together some terrifying secrets about her family's dark ancestry. But as she begins to learn more, the entire family must try to escape the sinister fate that runs in their blood.
There are definite nods to the past with noticeable similarities to horror classics like The Exorcist and Rosemary's Baby, but since this is coming from A24, the same folks who brought us 2016's brilliant The Witch and last year's haunting It Comes at Night, you know it'll bring something fresh to the genre.
The movie co-stars Gabriel Byrne (The Usual Suspects), newcomer Milly Shapiro, Alex Wolff (Patriots Day), and Ann Dowd (The Handmaid's Tale). Check out the poter below and look for Hereditary in theaters on June 8.
