Solo: A Star Wars Story Teaser Revealed During The Super Bowl
Although we've known about Solo: A Star Wars Story for years, we've known next to nothing about it. That changes now.
During the Super Bowl, Lucasfilm finally released the first look at the upcoming anthology flick that takes us back to when Han Solo (Alden Ehrenreich) was just a young space smuggler. We'll get to see how he met Chewbacca, learn about his early friendship with Lando Calrissian (Donald Glover), and find out how a mentor (Woody Harrelson) helped make Solo into the scruffy-looking nerf herder we know and love.
First announced back in 2013, the prequel has had a bumpy ride to this point. The original directors, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller (The LEGO Movie), were fired midway through production when their vision didn't quite align with that of Lucasfilm, so the studio promptly called in Ron Howard (Apollo 13) to pick up where they left off.
Details about the plot have been hard to come by, but there are a few hints about what we can expect. We'll probably see an early version of the Millennium Falcon that looks different from the one we first saw in 1977's Star Wars: A New Hope, and there are indications we'll see Han's record-breaking Kessel Run, which he claimed to have made in less than 12 parsecs.
The cast also includes Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones), Paul Bettany (Avengers: Age of Ultron), Thandie Newton (Westworld), and Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag).
The first full trailer for Solo: A Star Wars Story is expected to premiere Monday (Feb. 5) on Good Morning America. The movie flies into theaters on May 25.
