Watch The Explosive Super Bowl Trailer For Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan
John Krasinski is stepping into some A-list shoes.
Amazon released a trailer for Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan for the Super Bowl, and it reveals that Krasinski will go far beyond the confines of The Office. Check it out above.
He plays CIA analyst Jack Ryan as he embarks upon his first field assignment. If that character's name sounds familiar, it should. Alec Baldwin played Ryan in 1990's The Hunt for Red October, Harrison Ford took over for 1992's Patriot Games and 1994's Clear and Present Danger, Ben Affleck stepped in for 2002's The Sum of All Fears, and Chris Pine most recently played him in 2014's Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit.
According to a press release, the Amazon series will see Ryan thrust "into the center of a dangerous gambit with a new breed of terrorism that threatens destruction on a global scale."
The trailer marks the first time Amazon Prime Video has released a Super Bowl commercial. "Given the colossal scope and scale of the series coupled with the popularity of Tom Clancy's novels, we knew Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan would be a natural fit for Prime Video's first Super Bowl ad," said Amazon Studios' head of marketing Mike Benson in a statement. "The global nature of the audience provides us with a unique opportunity to give viewers a look at this thrilling new series coming to Prime."
Executive produced by showrunner Carlton Cuse (Lost) and Krasinski, Jack Ryan also stars Wendell Pierce (The Wire) and Abbie Cornish (Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri). The eight-episode first season premieres Aug. 31.
