Deadpool 2 Teaser Trailer Reveals Cable
Deadpool sat out the Super Bowl, but the wait was worth it.
20th Century Fox released a new teaser for Deadpool 2, and it's our best look yet at the upcoming sequel to Marvel's 2016 blockbuster. While a previous teaser featured Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) doing his best Bob Ross, this is a slightly more conventional trailer, albeit one that breaks the fourth wall and sees Deadpool use action figures to recreate some of the action.
But the really big news here is that the teaser formally introduces us to Cable (Josh Brolin), the time-jumping, half-cybernetic companion to Deadpool. Seeing these two together is a thrill, not just for diehard comic book readers, but for anyone who cares about good cinema. This could be the most dynamic pairing since Thelma and Louise.
Deadpool also doesn't miss an opportunity to take a shot at the DCEU. At the beginning of the clip, the CGI for Cable's mechanical arm isn't finished, prompting Deadpool to take a shot at Henry Cavill's digitally removed mustache in Justice League.
The teaser also offers up a brief look at Domino (Zazie Beetz) along with returning characters like Vanessa (Morena Baccarin) and Negasonic Teenage Warhead (Brianna Hildebrand).
The full trailer is only a few days away. It'll reportedly be released on Feb. 14 ahead of being attached to Black Panther when it hits theaters two days later.
Deadpool 2 will arrive on May 18.
