The Body Count Is Rising In NSFW Trailer For Santa Clarita Diet Season 2

Things are getting a little out-of-hand over in Santa Clarita.

Netflix has released a full trailer for the second season of its suburban graphic murder comedy Santa Clarita Diet, and you can check out a first glimpse at all the upcoming misadventures up above.

The full trailer comes hot on the heels of the second season's return date announcement, and makes no effort whatsoever to tease out the cliffhanger ending of the series' first season. Those episodes wrapped up rather hopelessly, with Timothy Olyphant's Joel on the way to the insane asylum and Drew Barrymore's Sheila chaining herself up in the basement in an act of self-exile.

If the trailer is to be taken at face value, those inconvenient plot turns are going to get dealt with rather quickly when the show makes its return. Which is great news for fans of the show's morbid first season; while the couple's body count is currently sitting comfortably at 3, it looks like the Hammonds are revving up to get some real work done in their second batch of episodes. Also, it looks like their marriage is actually going to make it through this whole ordeal, with Joel continuing to compromise his desire to not murder people for the sake of his undead wife, whom he loves.

Highlights of the trailer include Sheila working to keep up appearances while becoming increasingly enamored with the taste of human flesh, the couple's attempts to build a kill room they can be proud of, and daughter Abby (Liv Hewson) coming across a re-animated zombie head just hanging out in a tool closet while snooping around. Apparently, the zombifying affliction currently affecting Sheila might be spreading throughout southern California, which is bad news for the Hammonds, if nothing else — we all know they don't do that great with competition.

Santa Clarita Diet was created by Victor Fresco, whose previous cult hit TV comedies include Better Off Ted and Andy Richter Controls the Universe. The new season is also set to feature the introductions of Joel McHale and Maggie Lawson as the Hammonds' longtime rival realtors, as well as Gerald McRaney and Zachary Knighton in guest star roles.

Santa Clarita Diet will return to Netflix on March 23.
