Tiffany Haddish Scores Voice Role In The Lego Movie 2
Tiffany Haddish is about to get a whole lot more awesome.
The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Haddish is set to voice a "key new character" in The Lego Movie 2. It's currently unknown which little yellow figurine Haddish will lend her pipes to, as character details and story specifics are being kept top-secret at studio Warner Bros.
Haddish joins original Lego Movie voice actors Chris Pratt and Elizabeth Banks, who return to the sequel as the everyday construction worker-turned-powerful Master Builder Emmet Brickowski and Wyldstyle, respectively. Will Arnett is also back on board to voice Batman (a Master Builder and Wyldstyle's boyfriend in The Lego Movie), with Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill returning to their roles as Superman and Green Lantern.
Phil Lord and Chris Miller (who were slated to direct Solo: A Star Wars Story before Lucasfilm fired them) took the reins for the original Lego Movie, but Mike Mitchel (Trolls, The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water) will direct the sequel. Lord, Miller, and Dan Lin — who produced The Lego Movie, The Lego Batman Movie, and The Lego Ninjago Movie – are set to produce The Lego Movie 2.
Haddish has been on a hot streak of success following her breakout performance in Girls Trip. Next up for the actress is TBS' The Last O.G., Universal Pictures' Night School, and New Line Cinema and DC Entertainment's The Kitchen, in which she stars opposite Melissa McCarthy. Haddish will also host this year's MTV Movie and TV Awards. Meanwhile, check out her untold truth.
The Lego Movie 2 is scheduled for release on February 8, 2019.
