Deadpool 2: Final Trailer Reveals Film's True Villain
Deadpool's gonna give it to ya. "It" being a surprise Deadpool 2 trailer that 20th Century Fox dropped on Thursday morning, which reveals the film's true villain. (Spoiler: It's exactly who you think it is.)
Until now, the actual plot of Deadpool 2 was pretty ambiguous: There's a boy Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds) wants to protect from forces of evil, so he ventures to form a "super-duper f***ing group" called the X-Force. We later learned that the seemingly vulnerable tween is a mutant named Russell (Julian Dennison), who just might be Russell "Rusty" Collins, the young hero who first appeared in the Marvel Comics canon in X-Factor #1 in February 1986. One such force of aforementioned evil that might corrupt Russell is the cybernetically enhanced telepathic mutant Cable (Josh Brolin), though previously release footage did an excellent job of leaving things open for interpretation, with many fans speculating that some other baddie was the real antagonist of Deadpool 2.
The final trailer for the sequel confirms that Deadpool and his merry band of X-Force members — including the lucky Domino (Zazie Beetz), the powerful Bedlam (Terry Crews), and the purple-haired, sword-swinging Shatterstar (Lewis Tan) – will go toe to toe with Cable to ensure his metal fists never touch Russell.
"Intercept the convoy, and watch out for Cable!" Deadpool says in the trailer. "There's this kid, he's in trouble. I ain't letting Cable get to him, but I can't do this alone. I need backup."
And boy, will he ever need it. Elsewhere in the trailer, we see Deadpool and Cable engage in some seriously tense fights, one of which ends with Cables stabbing the Merc with a Mouth and quipping that he's nothing more than a "clown dressed up as a sex toy." Deadpool, being Deadpool, fires back, "So dark. Are you sure you're not from the DC Universe?" He ends up getting his revenge, though, when Cable fires a rapid round of bullets at Deadpool, who slices each and every one of them in half with his Bea Arthur name-engraved twin katanas.
