Cloak & Dagger Trailer Reveals Its Heroes' Deadly Fate
The next television series to spiral out of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Cloak & Dagger, is setting the table for tragedy in its newest trailer.
After multiple trailers showing off their powers and parallel lives, the most recent reel finally adds some stakes to the story of Tandy "Dagger" Bowen and Tyrone "Cloak" Johnson. Check out the trailer for yourself up above.
The trailer reveals more about the symbiotic relationship between Cloak and Dagger's power set, with his access to the Dark Dimension and her ability to create daggers of pure light playing off of each other in essential ways. It also further teases their budding romantic connection, with the duo finding deliverance from their problems in each other's company.
Importantly, the trailer refers to the duo as a "divine pairing", adding a sense of fatalism to their story. That idea of a dark fate is especially bolstered by the reveal from Noëlle Renée Bercy's Evita Fusilier that one of them is going to die.
Even for comic book fans, it's not currently known who Bercy's character is, as she seems to have no direct parallel with a character from Cloak & Dagger's comics. Hopefully she's wrong about the dying thing. Who knows? Maybe she doesn't know what she's talking about.
Cloak & Dagger stars Aubrey Joseph as Cloak and Olivia Holt as Dagger, with Gloria Reuben, Miles Mussenden, Andrea Roth, James Saito, and J.D. Evermore also set to play supporting roles in the series.
Cloak & Dagger will premiere on Thursday, June 7 at 8pm/7c on Freeform.
