Deadly Class: First Teaser For The Russo Brothers' Spooky Comic Series Unveiled
Avengers: Infinity War directors Joe and Anthony Russo are keeping their creative energies flowing in the comic book world, bringing Rick Remender and Miles Orion Feldsott's 2014 Image Comics series Deadly Class to the small screen. Deadly Class is set up at Syfy, which just rolled out the first teaser trailer for the dark and devilishly stylish show.
Clocking in at just over a minute in length, the teaser opens on an eerie voiceover: "Marcus, we know what you've done. What if I told you there's a home for people like you?"
The troublesome (and clearly troubled) Marcus in question is Marcus Lopez, played by Teen Wolf alum Benjamin Wadsworth. Marcus is a homeless teenager who gets recruited to enroll at King's Dominion High School for the Deadly Arts, an elite private school where crime families send their next generations of assassins to train in order to keep their lineage of delinquency alive. Doctor Strange star Benedict Wong controls the hierarchy of King's Dominion as Master Lin, the institution's powerful headmaster — and boy, does the school need order. As teased in the clip, the halls are filled with murderous teens, evil social cliques, and outsiders who are far more twisted than they seem.
"Deadly Class is one of the more twisted coming-of-age stories we've ever read," executive producer Joe Russo says in the teaser. "It does an amazing job of exploring the teenage years and the sense of the alienation you feel. The first time we read the book, we were blown away."
Comic co-creator Rick Remender, who is also attached to Deadly Class as an executive producer, notes that the adaptation will seriously impress fans. "Deadly Class is authentic, honest, and brutal," he details in the first-look clip. "The threats are real."
