Jennifer Aniston To Play First Female POTUS In Netflix's First Ladies
Jennifer Aniston is going to the White House. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Friends actress is set to play the first female president of the United States in the upcoming Netflix film First Ladies.
The comedy follows Beverly Nicholson (Aniston) and her wife, Kasey (Tig Notaro), the First Lady. The story is said to "show that behind every great woman is another great woman." The movie is based on a script written by Notaro, the stand-up comic best known for her Amazon series One Mississippi, and Stephanie Allynne, who also worked as a writer and story editor on the show.
Aniston holds a Golden Globe, as well as another nomination, for her role on the long-running sitcom Friends. She also holds another Golden Globe nomination for her role in Cake, as well as an Emmy win and four other nominations for Friends and a nomination for guest starring on 30 Rock. The actress is also set to appear in an Apple series about morning shows, co-starring Reese Witherspoon.
Both Aniston and Notaro have already established relationships with Netflix. Aniston is attached to star opposite Adam Sandler in the film Murder Mystery for the streamer, while Notaro will use it to debut her upcoming stand-up special Tig Notaro: Happy To Be Here. Allynne also had a recurring guest starring role on Netflix's Love.
Aniston, Nataro, and Allynne are all set to produce the project, alongside Adam McKay (The Big Short), Will Ferrell (Daddy's Home), Jessica Elbaum (Land of the Lost), and Betsy Koch (Things Are Not Going Great For Me With J. Claude Deering). Chris Henchy (The Other Guys) will executive produce. The movie does not have a release date yet.
