It: Chapter 2 Adds Isaiah Mustafa
It: Chapter Two has landed another big star. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. has tapped Old Spice spokesman Isaiah Mustafa to play the adult version of Mike Hanlon in the upcoming horror film, which will also star Jessica Chastain, James McAvoy, and Bill Hader.
Chosen Jacobs played the younger version of Mike in the hit 2017 film It, an adaptation of the Stephen King novel of the same name. Jacobs, along with the series' other child actors including Finn Wolfhard, Sophia Lillis, and Jaeden Lieberher, are expected to return for the sequel, which will feature the characters returning to Derry to once again face off against Pennywise, the evil clown played by Bill Skarsgard.
Mustafa is best known for his commercial work, but he has dabbled in acting as well. His TV guest starring roles includes appearances on Ugly Betty, NCIS, Castle, Chuck, Charlie's Angels, Nikita, Sirens, Anger Management, Baby Daddy, and Robot Chicken, while his film roles include Crush, Horrible Bosses, and The Three Stooges. He also has a role on the Freeform series Shadowhunters: The Mortal Instruments, which was recently canceled after three seasons.
Andy Muschietti, who directed 2017's It, will be back for It: Chapter Two, as will writer Gary Dauberman. The film is expected to begin production this summer, with James Ransone, Andy Bean, Jay Ryan, and Eddie Kaspbrak also starring. The movie hopes to build on the box office success of the first film, which brought in $700.3 million at the worldwide box office, including $327.4 million domestic, against a $35 million budget. The film currently holds the title for the number one highest-grossing R-rated horror film of all time. (via Box Office Mojo)
It: Chapter Two has a Sept. 6, 2019 release date.
