Charlie Hunnam Won't Be In Pacific Rim: Maelstrom
Sounds like the Earth will need to find a way to defend itself from gigantic alien monsters without Charlie Hunnam or his abs. The star of Pacific Rim told Yahoo Movies that he won't be back for the sequel, Pacific Rim: Maelstrom.
"I read an early draft of what they're doing, there was one incarnation of the sequel that involved me heavily but I was unavailable," Hunnam said. "They have a very definite schedule that they have to film because of the politics and business surrounding filmmaking. Unfortunately, it ended up being something we couldn't remedy because, by the time they got their schedule fully realized, then I wasn't available."
It's just the latest setback in the long-delayed sequel to Guillermo Del Toro's sci-fi flick, but Del Toro (who won't direct it) told The Hollywood Reporter that we'll still see a lot of familiar faces. "As a producer, I learned not to declare anything about a movie I'm not directing," he said. "I can tell you this: a lot of the cast from the first movie is coming back."
Pacific Rim: Maelstrom is set for release Feb. 23, 2018.
