Set approximately 19 years after the events of that movie, Rogue One will reportedly feature Vader at his most brutal, as he's still young and making a name for himself within the Sith. James Earl Jones, 85, returns to provide Vader's voice.
Lucasfilms president Kathleen Kennedy opened up about Vader's role in the movie to Entertainment Weekly. "He will be in the movie sparingly," she said. "But at a key, strategic moment, he's going to loom large."
Other highlights of the trailer include more footage of Donnie Yen as Chirrut Imwe, Forrest Whitaker as the reluctant Saw Gerrera and a look at the new droid K-2SO (voiced by Alan Tudyk).
Rogue One hits theaters Dec. 16, 2017. Check out everything we think we know about it.
