Aquaman To Film In Australia Next Summer
When you're filming a big-budget superhero flick about the ruler of an underwater realm, is there anywhere better to go than Down Under?
The Daily Telegraph reports production of DC's upcoming Aquaman movie will take place next year in Australia. Pre-production is slated to begin "before Christmas."
There's been no official announcement yet, but ComicBook.com thinks filming will likely take place at the Village Roadshow Studios on the Gold Coast in Queensland–home of the country's largest water tank built specifically for movies and TV.
But setting up shop in Australia could boomerang on producers. Last year, co-star Amber Heard violated the country's custom laws when she provided false documentation while traveling with her two Yorkshire terriers. The Associated Press reports she avoided jail time by paying a $1,000 fine.
She'll play Mera in Aquaman alongside star Jason Momoa, and the movie is slated to hit theaters July 27, 2018. Of course, that's as long as Heard's dogs stay out of trouble.
