The Punisher: First Set Photos Reveal Bearded Jon Bernthal
Marvel's Netflix universe is about to get a lot more brutal, and apparently at least a little hairier.
Days after the premiere of Luke Cage and just as Netflix officially announced a release date for the upcoming Iron Fist series, production has reportedly begun on The Punisher. Based on the iconic comic book character and spun-off from Netflix's Daredevil, the series features The Walking Dead's Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle–a tortured anti-hero who becomes a vigilante after the murder of his family.
Just Jared snagged photos of Bernthal on the set in Brooklyn, and they seem to imply that Castle has been too preoccupied to shave.

While we know Steve Lightfoot (Hannibal) will serve as showrunner, further details have been hard to come by. TVLine reported that Ben Barnes (The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian) has been cast in a recurring role, potentially to play Bobby Saint.
But Den of Geek isn't so sure Bernthal is actually currently at work on The Punisher. Instead, he could be filming scenes for the upcoming Netflix series The Defenders, which ties together the characters of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist.
Either way, Bernthal doesn't look thrilled to have his picture taken. Take a look at all the photos, and check out some facts you may not know about the Punisher.
