Iron Fist: Marvel Unwraps Cover Of Prequel Comic Book
The real star of the Marvel Cinematic Universe might be multimedia synergy.
Ahead of this week's New York Comic-Con, Marvel shared a time-lapse video that reveals the cover of a prequel comic to the upcoming Iron Fist series on Netflix. Comics artist Jay Anacleto and colorist Romulo Fajardo created the cover featuring shirtless superhero Danny Rand (Game of Thrones' Finn Jones).
For the uninitiated, Iron Fist tells the story of a man who returns to New York City after being missing for years. When he gets back home, he takes on crime and corruption using kung-fu mastery and the ability to summon the mystic energy of the Iron Fist.
It'll be the fourth live-action Marvel series on Netflix, joining Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage. The Punisher will premiere in 2017, followed by the ensemble series The Defenders, which will bring all the heroes together.
And while they all exist in the same universe as the likes of Iron Man and Doctor Strange, Luke Cage star Mike Colter thinks it's unlikely we'll see any of the more adult-oriented Defenders on the big screen alongside the more family-friendly Avengers.
Watch the teaser trailer and find out what to expect from the Iron Fist series, which premieres March 17, 2017.
