How Finn Might Awaken In Star Wars 8
Contains potential spoilers for Star Wars: Episode VIII
When we last left Finn (John Boyega) in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, he'd sustained a pretty nasty lightsaber wound at the hands of Kylo Ren (Adam Driver). But we know from the cast list for the upcoming Episode VIII that Boyega is set to return in the sequel.
So how does Finn make a comeback? The folks at Making Star Wars think they've found the answer. A source said Finn's first scene in the film will find him inside a "bacta suit" to treat his injuries.
According to the report, there's apparently a sequence in Episode VIII in which Finn is "cut or removed" from the suit and revealed to be better than ever.
As ScreenRant points out, bacta is a healing substance in the Star Wars universe, and it can miraculously heal just about everything from broken bones to missing hands. The stuff doesn't mess around. You might recall that Luke Skywalker was dunked into a tank filled with bacta after he escaped from the wampa cave in The Empire Strikes Back, and he turned out just fine. Well, mostly.
Director Rian Johnson revealed (via ScreenCrush) that the movie will pick up right where The Force Awakens ends, marking a first for the franchise. That means Finn might not need all that much time to recover. Of course, MoviePilot also has a theory that Finn is actually the reincarnation of Anakin Skywalker. In that case, he would be in store for a much more existential awakening.
We'll have to wait until the movie drops Dec. 15, 2017 to find out for sure. In the meantime, check out everything we think we know about Episode VIII, and why it may or may not have a lot in common with The Empire Strikes Back.
