New Wonder Woman Trailer Reveals Heroic Backstory
At long last, there's a new trailer for Wonder Woman, and it was definitely worth the wait.
We got our first real glimpse of the upcoming DC Comics flick during Comic-Con this past summer, but the new official trailer offers our best look yet at Gal Gadot in action, along with a pretty deep explanation of Wonder Woman's backstory.
It covers the arrival of Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) at Wonder Woman's home on Themyscira, and it reveals how he convinces her to leave the Amazonian paradise and help humanity in World War I, which Trevor refers to as "the war to end all wars." (Spoiler alert: It doesn't.) But she picks up her shield, and joins in the battle.
Once Diana is in the mix, she clearly has an edge over everyone else, thanks in part to her Bracelets of Submission (they can deflect bullets), and at least one fancy gown with a sword concealed inside. We're sure she'll be able to make an impact in the fight to come.
It also looks like director Patty Jenkins has definitely brought a lighter, less bleak tone (and even some much-needed humor) to the DCEU in the wake of Suicide Squad and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
Wonder Woman lands in theaters June 2, 2017. Watch the trailer above and check out easter eggs you might have missed in the first trailer.
