Fullmetal Alchemist Live-Action Movie Teaser Revealed

You'll need to be fluent in Japanese to understand any of the dialogue or text on the screen, but awesome action sequences are universal.

Warner Bros. released a teaser trailer for the upcoming live-action adaptation of the popular manga series Fullmetal Alchemist, and although the movie isn't currently slated for U.S. release, the clip is still worth watching.

The manga (originally published in 2001) was written and illustrated by Hiromu Arakawa, and it spawned an anime series that aired from 2003 to 2004. The storyline follows two brothers in the landscape of a European Industrial Revolution where alchemy is one of the most advanced scientific techniques. The brothers are on a search for the philosopher's stone to restore their bodies after a failed attempt to bring their deceased mother back to life.

Unlike the upcoming Hollywood adaptation of Ghost in the Shell starring Scarlett Johansson, production of the Fullmetal Alchemist movie stuck very close to its Japanese roots. Fumihiko Sori directs, and the film boasts a large cast of Japanese actors.

Although American fans might have to wait a little while to see the movie after it debuts in Japan next year, streaming services and subtitles exist for a reason. Check out the teaser above.
