Riverdale: Watch The First Trailer For The Edgy Archie Reboot

This isn't your grandfather's Archie. In fact, it's not even your father's Archie, unless he was really into both Twin Peaks and Gossip Girl.

The CW unveiled the first promo for Riverdale, a dark and unapologetically sexy take on the classic Archie comics which first became popular in the 1940s.

According to the official synopsis, the live-action series "offers a bold, compelling take on Archie, Betty, Veronica, and their friends, exploring small-town life and the darkness and weirdness bubbling beneath Riverdale's wholesome facade. The show will focus on the eternal love triangle of Archie Andrews (K.J. Apa), girl-next-door Betty Cooper (Lili Reinhart), and rich socialite Veronica Lodge (Camila Mendes), and will include the entire cast of characters from the comic books—including Archie's rival, Reggie Mantle (Ross Butler), and his slacker best friend, Jughead Jones (Cole Sprouse)."

The show was created by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, a producer for Supergirl, Glee, and Big Love. But from the look and tone of the teaser, it will definitely take Archie and the gang to a place that feels a lot like a David Lynch production, but where everyone is impossibly attractive.

Riverdale premieres Jan. 26 on the CW.
