Baywatch Teaser Hits The Beach Running (In Slo-Mo)
Grab some sunblock and your love of self-referential humor. Paramount unveiled the first teaser for the upcoming Baywatch movie, and we can honestly say Mitch Buchannon has never looked better.
Dwayne Johnson takes over the semi-iconic role from David Hasselhoff, joined by Zac Efron as Matt Brody (David Charvet's character in the original series), Alexandria Daddario as Summer Quinn (originally played by Nicole Eggert), and Kelly Rohrbach as C.J. Parker (originally played by Pamela Anderson). Hasselhoff and Anderson both have roles in the movie, too.
In the reboot, Brody is an Olympic gold-medalist with a party boy streak, sort of in the vein of Ryan Lochte, and he's recruited to help "restore the Baywatch brand." Meanwhile, the team take it upon themselves to help solve an unsolved murder which, as Brody points out, isn't "their job." But scantily clad hijinks are sure to ensue.
Directed by Seth Gordon (Horrible Bosses), the movie has a tone that's very reminiscent of the 21 Jump Street reboot, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. And the teaser reveals that it'll all be done with plenty of sly nods to the original series.
Baywatch is expected to arrive May 19, 2017. While we lather up, check out some reboots that actually worked in a big way.
