Blade Runner 2049 First Teaser Unveiled

At a time when many sequels are planned before the original movie hits theaters, it's refreshing to see a filmmaker wait three decades to follow up a legitimate classic.

Ridley Scott is producing a sequel to his dark and dystopian Blade Runner, and we've finally got our first look.

Harrison Ford will reprise his role as LAPD cop Rick Deckard in Blade Runner 2049, but this time, Ryan Gosling takes top billing. According to the synopsis (via Entertainment Weekly), Deckard has gone into hiding for 30 years after the events of the first film, and Gosling (who works the same beat Deckard used to) has uncovered a secret that could "plunge what's left of society into chaos." So he embarks on a quest to find Deckard, but as the footage reveals, Deckard really doesn't want to be found.

For those who never saw the original, it's a sci-fi noir flick about a "blade runner" who must hunt down rogue replicants (androids that are creepily human). Of course, there's one fan theory that will make you see the whole thing differently.

Blade Runner 2049 also stars Jared Leto, Robin Wright, and Ana de Armas. Denis Villeneuve (Arrival) directs the movie, which arrives in theaters Oct. 6, 2017.
