James Franco Confirms Role In Alien: Covenant
It's been reported that James Franco has a surprise role in Alien: Covenant, and he just confirmed it. Well, he basically confirmed it.
During an interview with Hey U Guys, Franco was asked what it's like to be part of such an iconic film series. Franco seemed legitimately surprised, and said, "The news is out, I guess?"
Once convinced that the Xenomorph is out of the bag, Franco opened up about the original Alien movie, but skirted any details about his involvement in Ridley Scott's upcoming prequel. "I remember when I was a kid watching Alien for the first time and that was huge," Franco said. "I just watched it in the past month... it's such a good movie. It's so tight, full of tension. It's really just a horror movie in space... So it's great to be a part of it."
When asked if he could say anything else, Franco smirked and said, "Obviously not."
According to the fan site AvP Galaxy, Franco plays Branson, captain of the Covenant ship and husband of Katherine Waterston's character. It was initially believed that Waterston would play the captain of the ship, but it's possible that her character only takes the position after her husband is no longer around. Franco's role is reportedly a small one, and he shows up mostly at the beginning of the film with "later small appearances."
The release date of Alien: Covenant was recently moved up to May 19, 2017, so we should expect a trailer sometime in the near future. Meanwhile, here are a few things that could ruin the movie.
