See The First Official Cast Photo From Shane Black's Predator Reboot
Filming began Monday on the highly-anticipated Predator reboot.
Director Shane Black shared a photo of the cast in full gear on his Twitter page, showing himself with stars Sterling K. Brown, Trevante Rhodes, Boyd Holbrook, Jacob Tremblay, Olivia Munn, and Keegan-Michael Key. According to Variety, Holbrook will play a soldier, while Tremblay will play his son. Rhodes and Key will play ex-Marines and Munn will play a scientist.
The original Predator, released in 1987, starred Arnold Schwarzenegger as the leader of a team of commandos fighting against aliens in a Central American jungle.
Black (Iron Man 3) will direct the reboot, which he recently confirmed on Twitter will be rated R. He also co-wrote the script with Fred Dekker (RoboCop 3). The film is produced by John Davis (I, Robot) and Joel Silver (The Matrix) alongside Lawrence Gordon, who produced the original.
"Predator has been so overdone in a way— very low budget with a guaranteed return, every couple of years there's a knockoff churned out," Black said of his goal with the film. "It's gotta get to the point where people buy their tickets in advance instead of saying, 'Oh honey look, another Predator movie. No, Adam Sandler's got this thing on TV, let's do that instead.' I want people to say, 'The Predator is coming, I know it's coming, we want to see it, it's mysterious, interesting, it's got the same sense of wonderment and newness that Close Encounters had when that came out.'"
The film will be released on Feb. 9, 2018. While we wait, head over to Grunge to see why we're worried the film may not succeed.
