See The First Cast Photo From The Young Han Solo Movie
Principal photography for the young Han Solo film is officially underway, Disney reports.
Starring Alden Ehrenreich as the younger version of the gunslinger Harrison Ford played in the original films, the movie will follow the pre-A New Hope adventures of Han and Chewbacca (Joonas Suotamo).
Disney released an official cast photo Tuesday on the Star Wars Twitter account. Also pictured along with Ehrenreich and Suotamo are Woody Harrelson, who will play Han's mentor; Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who will be playing a "CGI-driven role," according to Variety; Emilia Clarke, who will play the female lead; Donald Glover, who will play a young Lando Calrissian; and directors Chris Lord and Phil Miller. Westworld's Thandie Newton, who is not pictured, was also confirmed as a cast member in the studio's release.
"Watching such inspired people from all over the world, with such unique voices, come together for the sole purpose of making art, is nothing short of miraculous," Lord and Miller said in a statement. "We can't think of anything funny to say, because we just feel really moved, and really lucky."
Filming began Feb. 20 at Pinewood Studios in London. The film was written by Lawrence and Jon Kasdan. While we wait for its May 25, 2018 release, see what you can expect from the movie and what we want to see happen.
