Hugh Jackman Would Play Wolverine Again If He Could Be Part Of The Avengers
Hugh Jackman has repeatedly said that he believes Logan will be his last time playing Wolverine, but in a recent interview with Screen Rant, he said that there may be one way to get him to return to the part.
Jackman said during an interview at a Logan press junket that, had he been offered the chance to join the Avengers, he might have reconsidered leaving the role.
"If that was on the table when I made my decision, it certainly would have made me pause," he said. "That's for sure. Because I always love the idea of him within that dynamic, with the Hulk obviously, with Iron Man. But there's a lot of smarter people with MBAs who can't figure that out. You never know."
Jackman has made it clear throughout the promotion of Logan that he plans for this to be his last time in the part, even saying that he supports recasting Wolverine for future movies. He recently told The New York Times, "The character will go on. Someone else will play it, for sure." (If Wolverine does eventually get recast, we have a few suggestions for who should wear the adamantium claws next.)
Still, there being a stipulation for Jackman to come back does leave the door open for a potential return someday far, far in the future, when Fox and Disney somehow work out their rights issues and give us all the epic superhero team-up that we need and deserve. Until then, though, it looks like we're going to have to get used to the idea of the superhero movie universe without Hugh Jackman.
Logan, from director James Mangold, is due out on March 3. The film also stars Patrick Stewart as Professor X and Dafne Keen as new mutant X-23 (who may eventually get her own spin-off). Watch the trailer here, and see what critics have said about the film.
