Michael K. Williams In Talks To Join Han Solo Movie

A little over a month after filming began, the untitled Star Wars Han Solo anthology film may have another vast member. Variety reports that Michael K. Williams, who played Omar Little on HBO's critically acclaimed The Wire, is in final talks to join the movie in a key role.

Details on Williams' character have not been revealed, and the plot of the film is being kept tightly under wraps. Alden Ehrenreich will play a younger version of the character played by Han Solo in the original films, while Joonas Suotamo will play a young Chewbacca and Donald Glover will play a young Lando Calrissian. Woody Harrelson is set to play Han's mentor. Emilia Clarke, Thandie Newton, and Phoebe Waller-Bridge will also appear.

Williams is an Emmy nominee for HBO's Bessie and has also appeared in Boardwalk Empire, The Night Of, Gone Baby Gone, Assassin's Creed, and 12 Years A Slave.

The Han Solo movie was written by Lawrence and Jon Kasdan (a script which one Star Wars expert has called "by far the best Star Wars script, and one of the best scripts period, that I have ever read.")
