Transformers: The Last Knight Rolls Out Girl-Powered Trailer
If the new trailer for Transformers: The Last Knight seems a little kid-friendlier than usual, there's a good, capitalistic reason for that.
Paramount created the full-length trailer for the Michael Bay flick specifically to run before showings of Beauty and the Beast, so that means a little less robotic carnage and a lot more humor and heart. (No singing, though.)
The trailer centers on the new character Izabella (Nickelodeon star Isabela Moner), just a kid trying to get by in a world ravaged by giant, violent Transformers. She lives with her homemade robot Sqweeks (and apparently some baby Dinobots), and she seems to be buddies with the Autobot named Canopy. But she also finds time to break the fourth wall and narrate this clip.
There's no sign of all the King Arthur business and only fleeting looks at the likes of Optimus Prime and Bumblebee, but there are just enough explosions to assure you that this is still a Michael Bay movie we're talking about here. Mark Wahlberg also shows up to provide some Mark Wahlberg-type humor.
The fifth installment of the franchise will tie together the first three movies and 2014's Transformers: Age of Extinction, with Josh Duhamel and Tyrese Gibson set to co-star alongside Wahlberg, Anthony Hopkins, John Goodman, Stanley Tucci, and John Turturro.
Transformers: The Last Knight arrives in theaters June 23. Meanwhile, the Bumblebee spinoff movie has found a director.
