Fargo Season Three Promo Introduces New Characters
The new promo for Fargo's third season promises murder, intrigue, and very strong accents. The video, which introduces the new characters in town, provides some of the best looks thus far at the anthology series' third installment.
Season three, set in 2010, focuses on Ray and Emmit Stussy (both played by Ewan McGregor). Emmit is the Parking Lot King of Minnesota, while Ray is a balding, pot-bellied parole officer with a chip on his shoulder who blames his brother for his misfortunes. Their sibling rivalry follows a very Fargo-esque twisted path that begins with petty theft but soon leads to murder, mobsters, and cut-throat competitive bridge.
The video first introduces The Leftovers' Carrie Coon as Gloria Burgle, the recently divorced chief of the local police department who appears to be a no-nonsense straight talker with the ability to crack some pretty spot on jokes. When her partner asks if she plans on going to the autopsy later today, she responds straight-faced, saying, "They glued his nose and mouth shut, are we thinking cause of death is somehow a cliffhanger?"
It then quickly features Michael Stuhlbarg (Boardwalk Empire) as a lawyer and Emmit's right hand man, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as a crafty and alluring competitive bridge player, and David Thewlis as the very creepy looking V.M. Vargas, a loner capitalist who wants to partner with Emmit whether he likes it or not. It also shows off the dual McGregors, who seem like polar opposites in both looks and demeanor, before closing with an ominous shot of what looks like a pretty brutal murder and a police car.
Fargo's third season premieres on April 19. In the meantime, see other movies that, like Fargo, falsely claimed to be true stories.
