See Dwayne Johnson In The NSFW, Action-Heavy Baywatch Trailer
Dwayne Johnson's Mitch Buchannon will lead the elite of the elite in the new Baywatch reboot–or at least, so he claims. In the newest trailer for the upcoming action comedy, Buchannon's clashing with new team member Matt Brody (Zac Efron) gets in the way as the swimsuited team tries to figure out how to stop Victoria Leeds (Priyanka Chopra) from taking over their beach.
In the reboot, Brody is a former Olympic gold medalist who is brought on to the team as a PR stunt. This isn't something that Buchannon is very happy about, as Brody doesn't seem to have much respect for the Baywatch team, saying that he thinks all they do is "prevent people from getting sunburnt and occasionally stop them from drowning."
Of course, we all know that this is Baywatch, and there's quite a lot more to it than that. The trailer quickly moves into action, teasing that Chopra's character could be responsible for an influx of drugs and even murder on the beach. Even though a police officer tells the Baywatch team that their only job is to "make sure swim-happy white people don't drown," Buchannon asserts that they are going to have to "do what Baywatch does best," leading them on an action-heavy quest to free their beach of crime complete with fights, jet skis, and even rocket launchers.
Baywatch is directed by Seth Gordon (Horrible Bosses) based off a script by Friday the 13th writers Mark Swift and Damian Shannon. Alexandra Daddario, Kelly Rohrbach, Ilfenesh Hadera, Rob Huebel, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Jon Bass, David Hasselhoff, and Pamela Anderson also star. Baywatch is expected to swim into theaters on May 26, but for now, find out how the original show came this close to being canceled.
