Captain Underpants Tries To Save The Day In Goofy New Trailer

The first trailer for Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie definitely doesn't belong in the toilet. The animated film, based on the book series of the same name, will feature Kevin Hart and Thomas Middleditch as two fourth-grade pranksters who are constantly getting in trouble with Mr. Krupp (Ed Helms), "the worst principal in the world." When Mr. Krupp decides to put the two in separate classes to "annihilate their friendship," George (Hart) makes a last ditch effort to hypnotize him into doing their bidding, and he actually succeeds. He and his friend Harold (Middleditch) decide to make Mr. Krupp into the comic book superhero they created together: Captain Underpants.

As the trailer shows, Captain Underpants' heroic tendencies don't go quite as planned, with the would-be hero fighting an inflatable monster, "flying" via a glass elevator, and generally causing chaos wherever he goes. However, when a real threat comes to town in the form of Professor Poopypants (Nick Kroll), who promises that he is definitely just a cool teacher, and not some scary guy with a secret agenda. George, Harold, and Captain Underpants will have to figure out what it truly means to save the day.

Directed by David Soren (Turbo) and based off a script from Nicholas Stoller (Get Him to the Greek), Captain Underpants also stars Jordan Peele and Kristen Schaal. The movie will very heroically fly into theaters on June 2. In the meantime, take a look at the best movies of 2017 so far.
