An Oscar Nominee Just Joined Jessica Jones Season 2

Netflix has added a mysterious cast member to the second season of Jessica Jones. According to Entertainment Weekly, Janet McTeer, a two-time Academy Award nominee for her performances in Tumbleweeds and Albert Nobbs, has joined the Marvel superhero series in an undisclosed role.

Not much is known about who McTeer will be playing, but the character is said to have "an enormous impact on Jessica's life." The Jessica Jones Twitter account shared the news with the caption, "Raise a glass to my new neighbor."

McTeer, who is also known for The White Queen, Into the Storm, The Honourable Woman, and Me Before You, is the first new cast member for Jessica Jones season 2, which recently began filming in New York City. It is currently unknown which characters from the first season will return, although there's reason to think that most of the former series regulars, aside from David Tennant's Kilgrave, will be back.

"We are so fortunate to have an actress of Janet's talent and stature join what is already an incredible cast," said Marvel TV chief Jeph Loeb. "Our second season of Marvel's Jessica Jones aims to capture what audiences loved about our first, and Janet will be key to achieving that goal."

Series creator Melissa Rosenberg added: "We couldn't possibly be more excited to work with Ms. McTeer for our second season. Her gravitas and authenticity are the perfect ingredients for all we're trying to create this year. She disappears into roles, gives her characters' extraordinary dimension and depth. We're incredibly fortunate to be able to collaborate with her."

It's unknown when the second season of Jessica Jones will premiere, but the character will be back on Netflix on August 18 alongside Daredevil, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist for The Defenders. While we wait for Marvel's next Netflix outing, check out the untold truth of the superhero team.
