Watch The Kingsman: The Golden Circle Trailer
Eggsy is a new man in the first trailer for Kingsman: The Golden Circle. Following his introduction to the Kingsman in the first movie, Eggsy is now a full-fledged spy, ready to fight back after the destruction of the organization that he loves.
The trailer begins with a voiceover from Colin Firth's Harry, who says, "Eggsy, I saw in you what someone once saw in me. Something that can't be taught. The makings of a Kingsman. Being a Kingsman is more than the clothing we wear or the weapons we bear. It's about being willing to sacrifice for the greater good." This portion of his voiceover is intercut with flashbacks to the first film, as well as new images of Sophie Cookson's Roxie, Mark Strong's Merlin showing off some new gear, and Eggsy driving a car underwater. "I hope you're ready for what comes next," Harry says.
What comes next is going to test Eggsy on many levels– a missile (probably courtesy of Julianne Moore's Poppy) comes and destroys the Kingsman's headquarters, leaving Eggsy and Merlin out in the cold. This forces them to go find help from the Statesman, whose mountainous ranch headquarters seem to include a whole host of new gadgets for them to try out (including flask belt buckles).
The trailer also includes a lot of looks at the action in the film, including the car chase scene shown in each of the two short previews we've seen thus far and a longer look at the fight with the one armed man that we saw in the second preview. However, it's the ending that is sure to get most fans talking, with Firth's Harry returning in person, proving that he really is back from the dead (and now sporting a super cool eye patch).
Interestingly enough, not everything we saw in the short previews made it into the final trailer, with the first teaser especially providing quite a few looks at Moore that the trailer didn't have. The first teaser also featured a hint at some sort of recurring butterfly theme which didn't make it into the trailer, as well as a look at someone sitting in the Oval Office.
Halle Berry, Elton John, Channing Tatum, Jeff Bridges, Vinnie Jones, and Pedro Pascal also star in Kingsman: The Golden Circle, which is due out on Sept. 22, 2017. Matthew Vaughn directed the film and wrote the script alongside his partner Jane Goldman. While we wait for Eggsy to fight his way into our hearts again, read Vaughn's breakdown of the trailer and see all of the other movies that are also going to blow you away this year.
