New Blade Runner 2049 Trailer Will Debut With Alien: Covenant
When the trailer for Blade Runner 2049 dropped online back in December, we were all intrigued by those shots of Ryan Gosling wandering through a desert wasteland. Of course, that first teaser didn't give us a lot of info about the plot because, well, it was a teaser. However, we'll probably get a little more info about the sequel in just a few weeks, as Ridley Scott recently revealed a new trailer for Blade Runner 2049 would be released on May 19.
Talking with The Associated Press, the man who gave us the original Blade Runner announced the next trailer for 2049 will play in theaters before his upcoming Alien: Covenant. Scott didn't say much else about the new robo-picture, and it seems like Warner Bros. is keeping a pretty tight lid on any Blade Runner details. So what do we know about part two? Well, it will be directed by Denis Villeneuve, the French Canadian filmmaker behind Arrival, Sicario, and Enemy. Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford will star, along with actors like Mackenzie Davis, Jared Leto, and Dave Bautista. We also recently learned that Edward James Olmos will return as everybody's favorite origami aficionado, Gaff.
As for the actual plot (synopsis via Collider), the film will focus a new blade runner named K (Gosling) who "unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what's left of society into chaos." Looking for answers, K must find Rick Deckard (Ford), "a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years." So what's this world-shaking secret? And why has Deckard been hiding out for so long? Well, it looks like we may get a few answers on May 19. Until then, be sure to check our analysis of the teaser and discover all the clues you missed in the first Blade Runner 2049 trailer.
