New Transformers: The Last Knight Clip Revealed
Mark Wahlberg's mullet is the real star of this clip.
During this year's MTV Movie and TV Awards, Wahlberg took the stage to unveil an exclusive sneak peek at his upcoming film, Transformers: The Last Knight. The meat of the clip centers around Wahlberg's character Cade Yeager, a single father, inventor, and Autobots ally who aided in relief efforts during Age of Extinction, and Anthony Hopkins' character Sir Edmund Burton, an knowledgeable astronomer and Transformers historian who has more than a few tricks up his sleeves. He may also understand why the sentient machines keep visiting Earth.
In the clip, Yeager and Burton exchange a bit of banter with each other and their respective Transformer pals. Where Yeager is accompanied by a certain fast-talking Transformers darling, Burton has a pair of tech buddies afflicted by "robot dementia." Yeager is clearly unamused by his surroundings, going so far as to suggest that someone sent him to a "Transformer retirement home."
Burton ultimately piques Yeager's interest by bringing up the mystery behind the Transformers' preoccupation with Earth. But just as the conversation starts to kick off, another bot zooms into frame and flings an unassuming woman onto a field of grass.
Hopkins also calls Wahlberg "dude" in the clip, which is arguably even better than Wahlberg's questionable hairstyle. But we'll let you be the judge of that.
Take a look at the sneak peek in the video above. Here's the full plot synopsis for Transformers: The Last Knight: "The Last Knight shatters the core myths of the Transformers franchise, and redefines what it means to be a hero. Humans and Transformers are at war, Optimus Prime is gone. The key to saving our future lies buried in the secrets of the past, in the hidden history of Transformers on Earth. Saving our world falls upon the shoulders of an unlikely alliance: Cade Yeager (Wahlberg); Bumblebee; an English Lord (Sir Anthony Hopkins); and an Oxford Professor (Laura Haddock)."
Wahlberg also offered up his own summary of the flick before presenting the exclusive clip. Though his version is decidedly simpler than the official one, it's still quite effective: "Giant, badass robots kicking the crap out of each other. And I do some cool s***, too."
Joining Wahlberg and Hopkins for the upcoming Transformers film are Josh Duhamel, Stanley Tucci, Benjamin Flores Jr., John Turtorro, Tyrese Gibson, Santiago Cabrera, Mitch Pileggi, and Jerrod Carmichael. The voice cast includes Peter Cullen as Optimus Prime, John Goodman as Hound, and John DiMaggio as Crosshairs. Fans can also catch Transformers like Bumblebee, Drift, Hot Rod, Cogman, Canopy, Sqweeks, Grimlock, Megatron, Barricade, Onslaught, Hooligan, and Mohawk in the upcoming movie.
Directed by series icon Michael Bay, the movie touts contributions from The Dark Tower writer Akiva Goldsman and is backed by Paramount Pictures.
Transformers: The Last Knight is due out in theaters on June 21, two days earlier than originally planned.
