Luke Cage Season 2 Will Bring Back Shades
Shades won't be left in the dark in the second season of Luke Cage.
In a recent interview with Parade, Theo Rossi, the actor who portrays Shades on Marvel's hit Netflix series, confirmed that he'll return for season two. "Luke Cage is going down, [we're in] season two. We're pretty excited, it'll be nice to get back into the swing," Rossi stated.
Rossi's Shades (also known as Hernan Alvarez) appears beside some pretty powerful characters in the Marvel and Netflix collaboration, but he left the first season on a mild cliffhanger. After accepting a position with Mariah Dillard (Alfre Woodard), Shades is preparing to up his criminal credentials and bring chaos to the streets of Harlem. Season two of Luke Cage will likely see Shades doing just that.
In addition to his work on Luke Cage, Rossi also plays a pretty big role in the FX smash Sons of Anarchy, bringing to life Juan Carlos "Juice" Ortiz. The actor opened up about his experience being a part of two recognizable shows, and how each series has influenced the other.
"I felt like, in a way, that Sons was almost equal to me doing five great films. I also feel like Luke Cage has capitalized so much on what Sons had set up," said Rossi. "Now that I'm on Netflix with Marvel, and to be on the number one show on Netflix in Luke Cage, it's like cable television 2.0. I've been very lucky and very fortunate in my decisions and in the people who wanted me to be with them with things like Sons and Luke Cage."
Before Rossi takes another stab at Luke Cage, he'll appear in another Netflix series from Marvel: The Defenders. Developed by Douglas Petrie and Marco Ramirez, The Defenders is a miniseries that brings together Sigourney Weaver as Alexandra, Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock (aka Daredevil), Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones, Finn Jones as Danny Rand (aka Iron Fist), and, of course, Mike Colter as Luke Cage. The Defenders will also feature recurring guest stars from Marvel's TV canon, including Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson, Eka Darville as Malcolm Ducasse, Simone Missick as Misty Knight, Scott Glenn as Stick, Carrie-Anne Moss as Jeri Hogarth, Rachael Taylor as Trish Walker, Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple, and Jessica Henwick as Colleen Wing.
Luke Cage is expected to begin production for its second season this June. While we wait for another batch of episodes to arrive on Netflix, check out the easter eggs you totally missed in the first season of Luke Cage.
