Billy Crudup Reportedly Drops Out Of The Flash

The Flash has already lost two directors, and now it may have lost its Henry Allen as well. Entertainment Weekly reports that actor Billy Crudup, who will play Barry's father in the upcoming Justice League, has departed DC's The Flash movie following numerous delays and shake-ups behind-the-scenes.

EW buried the news in an article about the new director shortlist for the film, which includes Back to the Future's Robert Zemeckis and Kingsman: The Secret Service's Matthew Vaughn. (EW reports that Spider-Man's Sam Raimi has dropped out of the running, although other outlets note that he is still in contention. The magazine also says that The Amazing Spider-Man's Marc Webb has also passed.) Seth Grahame-Smith and Rick Famuyiwa were both previously attached to the project but dropped out due to creative differences.

The film is still in flux, with King Arthur: Legend of the Sword's Joby Harold working on a rewrite of the script. Crudup had recently revealed that he had no idea when the movie would start filming, although he gave no indication that that made him close to deciding to drop out. Warner Bros. declined to comment on Crudup's possible departure or on the directorial rumors.

We do know for sure that Ezra Miller will debut as Barry Allen (and Crudup as Henry) in the upcoming Justice League, due out on Nov. 17. As far as we know right now, Kiersey Clemons is still attached to play Iris West, although her involvement could also be up in the air if the shake-ups continue. Still, regardless of the behind-the-scenes drama, we think that The Flash is one of many upcoming DC movies that will blow you away.
