Peter Figures Out His Suit's Powers In New Spider-Man: Homecoming Trailer

Peter Parker still isn't content to just be your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man in the newest trailer for Spider-Man: Homecoming. The trailer features the newly anointed webslinger trying to figure out both his powers and the powers of his new, Tony Stark-built suit, all while dealing with Tony's strict regulations on his conduct.

The trailer starts with Peter in the tricked-out suit that Tony gave him in Captain America: Civil War, which Tony says he can keep, considering it doesn't fit him anyways. While other trailers have indicated that he does, at one point, get the suit taken away by Tony, this trailer mostly focused on the new gear, which offers him 576 possible web shooter combinations, his own personal JARVIS tells him. Tony tells him to stick to small crime, saying that he'll call him if he's needed for another mission.

It then shows Peter in school, where he is, understandably, bored. It turns out that he covers up his crime fighting exploits to his friends and family by saying he's doing an internship with Tony, who he calls with reports of his time stopping bicycle thefts and helping old ladies. "I just feel like I could do more," he says.

When he tries to do more, though, it doesn't exactly go as planned. The trailer features more of the robbery scene shown in earlier footage, showing that Peter doesn't exactly stop the Avengers-disguised bank robbers, who appear to be outfitted with some impressive tech, likely courtesy of Vulture. "The world's changing boys," Vulture tells his henchmen, shortly after dropping Peter over New York City (luckily, his new suit has a parachute). "It's time we changed too."

This new trailer also gives the best look yet at Donald Glover's mysterious character, showing him talking to Peter, potentially knocking down reports that he's playing a villain (and maybe lending credence to the idea that he's Miles Morales). "You've got to get better at this part of the job," Glover tells him. "I don't understand," Peter responds. "I"m intimidating."

The trailer then moves into action scenes, showing mostly things we've seen before, like the monument explosion and the dramatic splitting of the ferry. It also includes the clip of Zendaya's Michelle asking Peter where he's going that was screened recently at the MTV Movie and TV Awards.

The last scene, though, offers a bit of intrigue. It shows Peter's best friend Ned looking at the code of his suit, suggesting that it may be able to do a whole lot more than we've already seen. "There's a ton of other subsystems in here but they're all disabled by the training wheels protocol," Ned says. "I'm sick of Mr. Stark treating me like a kid," Peter replies. "But you are a kid," Ned points out. "Yeah, a kid who can stop a bus with his bare hands," Peter shoots back.

Tom Holland, Robert Downey Jr., Michael Keaton, Marisa Tomei, Jacob Batalon, Laura Harrier, Tony Revolori, Bokeem Woodbine, Logan Marshall-Green, and Michael Chernus star in Homecoming, which was directed by Jon Watts based on a script from Watts, John Francis Daley, Jonathan Goldstein, Christopher Ford, Chris McKenna, and Erik Sommers. The movie is due out July 7; for now, see why the movie will be better than you think.
