Gorgeous Final Valerian Trailer Released
The final trailer for Luc Besson's Valerian will absolutely blow you away. Set to a synthesized version of Coolio's "Gangsta's Paradise," the new trailer features more gorgeous shots of Alpha and highlights the film's groundbreaking action scenes.
The movie, which is based on the French graphic novel, follows Dane DeHaan as Valerian and Cara Delevingne as Laureline, two time-traveling partners charged by the government with maintaining order throughout the human territories. The two are forced to identity and prevent a mysterious threat to the city of Alpha, a metropolis where species from all over the universe have come together to share knowledge, intelligence, and culture.
"Welcome to Alpha, the city of a thousand planets," the trailer begins, in some of its only dialogue. "After centuries of peace and prosperity, an unknown force wants to destroy all we have created." It then quickly introduces us to Valerian and Laureline, who are told that they only have 10 hours to find the threat and eliminate it. "History is on the march," Clive Owen's Commander Arun Filitt tells them, amid scenes of them jumping into action to save the threatened planet.
Rihanna, John Goodman, Ethan Hawke, Kris Wu, and Herbie Hancock also star in Valerian, which was written and directed by The Fifth Element's Besson. The film is due out on July 21; in the meantime, see all of the other movies that will blow you away this summer.
