Game Of Thrones Season 7 Trailer Brings War To Westeros
It's the end of May, but winter is almost here.
HBO released a new trailer for the seventh season of Game of Thrones, and it offers our first look at official footage along with hints about the war to come.
We get glimpses of all the major players: Queen Cersei (Lena Headey), who notes that she's now got enemies in every direction; Daenerys (Emilia Clarke), who seems to be making herself right at home in Westeros; and Jon Snow (Kit Harington), the new King in the North.
But as Davos Seaworth (Liam Cunningham) points out, the White Walkers (noticeably absent from the trailer) are on their way, and it may not matter who ends up on the Iron Throne.
The producers and cast recently revealed that season 7 will move at a much quicker pace than we're used to. "This season is really different than any other season because it's accelerating toward the end," said Kit Harington. "A lot of stuff collides and happens much much quicker than you're used to seeing on Thrones... it's so different than what everybody is used to. It's quite exciting."
Showrunner Dan Weiss said things will be picking up not because there are only seven episodes this season instead of the usual ten, but because there's just a lot more going on in the storyline. "In the world of these characters, the war that they've been waiting for is upon them," he said. "The conflicts that have been building the past six years are upon them and those facts give them a sense of urgency that makes [the characters] move faster."
Season 7 premieres July 16 on HBO. Check out the trailer above and take a look at everything we think we know about the upcoming season so far.
