X-Men Drama The Gifted One Of The Most Anticipated Shows Of The Fall
People are very excited to see Marvel's mutants on the small screen. Variety reports that Fox's upcoming X-Men drama The Gifted has topped a poll of the most anticipated shows of the fall, alongside CBS's David Boreanaz drama SEAL TEAM.
Civic Science conducted the survey, which asked people about the likelihood of them watching 14 new broadcast shows across the big five networks. Also among the top choices were Seth MacFarlane's Star Trek parody The Orville, NBC's Anne Heche-starring military drama The Brave, and ABC's Jason Ritter religious drama The Gospel of Kevin. Civic Science CEO John Dick noted that the shows with the most appeal were the ones that "engage a strong niche audience."
The Gifted stars Amy Acker and Stephen Moyer as two parents forced to take their children on the run from a hostile government after discovering that they have mutant powers. The twist? Moyer's character is a member of the government agency tasked with hunting mutants down. The drama, which comes from Burn Notice's Matt Nix, teased quite a few connections to the larger X-Men universe in its first trailer, and even has X-Men director Bryan Singer on hand as a director for the pilot and as an executive producer. Natalie Alyn Lind, Percy Hynes White, Emma Dumont, Coby Bell, Sean Teale, Jamie Chung, and Blair Redford also star in the series.
SEAL TEAM, meanwhile, stars TV staple Boreanaz as the leader of a group of elite Navy SEALs tasked with taking on the government's most difficult missions. The show, from Justified's Ben Cavell, has an impressive cast that also features Max Thieriot, A.J. Buckley, Neil Brown Jr., Toni Trucks, and Jessica Pare.
