News Reporter Freaks Out On Disneyland's Guardians Of The Galaxy Ride

This unassuming reporter took the ride of his life.

Disney devotees and Guardians of the Galaxy fans alike lined up to ride Disneyland's new Guardians of the Galaxy—Mission: BREAKOUT! attraction this weekend. The ride, which was reconstructed from park's popular drop ride, the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, has had many shrieking with delight. But for ABC30 Action News reporter Cory James, his screams were ones of pure, unadulterated terror.

James hopped aboard the re-themed ride during its soft opening on Friday, May 26. The reporter joined a pack of fellow park-goers for a live television broadcast of their experience, and while girls behind him and young man sitting to his right are all smiles as the ride begins to drop, it's a different story for James.

From his high-pitched yelps to his worried questioning if the ride "goes any faster than this," James all but loses his mind. And the Groot gloves James is wearing just adds another layer of hilarity to his reaction.

Soon after the footage of James on the ride surfaced online, he made an appearance on Good Morning America (via E! Online) to comment on why his reaction was so intense. Simply put, James didn't realize an attraction at Disneyland would ever be as fast or extreme as Guardians of the Galaxy—Mission: BREAKOUT!

"I'm not from California, so this is my first time at Disneyland and in my mind... Disneyland is a place for kids under 10 years of age," he said. "And I didn't think they had rides of that magnitude there, so I certainly wasn't expecting that."

James continued, describing the moment as an "out of the body experience," and that he had expectations for the ride that clearly didn't align with reality.

"I thought that I would get on, we would be lifted up and I would be talking all the way up and then would be able to talk while we were dropping. I didn't know it would be going that fast," James explained. "Once I felt it and my stomach collapsed, I just kind of lost my mind, as you saw." Thankfully, James was able to take the less-than-enjoyable experience like a trooper.

Guardians of the Galaxy—Mission: BREAKOUT! features voices from the full Guardians of the Galaxy cast, including Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Dave Bautista, Benicio del Toro, Pom Klementieff, and Stan Lee. The rocking ride, which officially opened at Disneyland on May 27, brings the funk with songs like "Born To Be Wild," "Burning Love," "Free Ride," "I Want You Back."
