Transformers: The Last Knight Isn't Actually Three Hours Long
Don't believe everything you read on the internet, but it's safe to believe this.
Earlier this week, rumors began circulating online that Transformers: The Last Knight would clock in with a whopping three-hour runtime. While it sent haters into overdrive, director Michael Bay took to Twitter to clear things up.
"Reports of Transformers: The Last Knight being over three hours [are] wrong," he said. "It's shorter than the last three movies by a lot."
Although there will inevitably be some die-hard fans who are upset by the news, you've got to admit that three hours of explosions and Mark Wahlberg's mullet may have been sensory overload.
For the sake of comparison, 2009's Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen came in at 144 minutes, 2011's Dark of the Moon is 154 minutes, and 2014's Age of Extinction runs 165 minutes. So the fact that Bay revealed that it's "a lot" shorter than those three means The Last Knight might be closer to two hours than three.
That's actually a little surprising when you consider that the upcoming flick will combine elements of both the original trilogy and the Wahlberg-heavy Age of Extinction. And then there's all the business with Transformers in the age of King Arthur and Optimus Prime going rogue like Vin Diesel in The Fate of the Furious.
We'll find out more when Transformers: The Last Knight rolls into theaters on June 21. Of course, it's also just the beginning: Paramount is reportedly planning a dozen more Transformers movies.
