Watch The Trailer For Naomi Watts' Netflix Series Gypsy
Netflix has released a sexy new trailer for its upcoming psychological thriller series Gypsy. The show follows Naomi Watts as a therapist who gets dangerously close to her patients, sometimes developing inappropriate intimate relationships with the people in their lives.
"I used to believe that people determine their own lives," Watts' Jean Holloway says at the start of the trailer. "Yet there's one force more powerful than free will– our desires." Despite the fact that Jean is told she is just there to listen when she is with her patients, the trailer quickly shows that she isn't willing to let her patients just go home and lead their lives– she has to insert herself into them as well.
This causes tension within her family, and appears to spill over into her professional life as well, where she is told by her colleagues that she keeps crossing the line. "I guess I feel like I've been living my life as two people," Jean says. "I don't know which one is real. I don't know who's in control anymore."
Billy Crudup, Sophie Cookson, Lucy Boynton, Karl Glusman, Melanie Liburd, Poorna Jagannathan, Brenda Vaccaro, Brooke Bloom, Kimberly Quinn, Edward Akrout, and Frank Deal also star in Gypsy, which comes from Lisa Rubin. Fifty Shades of Grey's Sam Taylor-Johnson will direct the first two episodes and serve as executive producer. The series' first 10 episodes will premiere on June 30; while we wait, see some upcoming Netflix originals you didn't know were being made.
