Cobie Smulders, Keegan Michael-Key Star In Hilarious Friends From College Trailer
The friend group is back in the first full trailer for the upcoming Netflix comedy Friends From College. The series, from Forgetting Sarah Marshall duo Nicholas Stoller and Francesca DelBanco, stars Keegan-Michael Key, Fred Savage, Annie Parisse, Nat Faxon, Cobie Smulders, and Jae Suh Park as a group of former friends from Harvard who find themselves at different stages of their lives both professionally and domestically as they all stare down their forties.
The trailer begins with Key and Smulders in a moving truck, arguing with a cabbie behind them. Smulders explains that she's just extra tense because she's anxious for the reunion, saying that they have 20 years of grievances built up. "It all just gets so competitive," she says. She and Key also seem to be having martial troubles, with Smulders, who is unhappy at her job, frustratedly asking if he feels ready to have a child.
Elsewhere, Parisse's Sam is struggling dealing with the direction her life is going. "I love my life, I just wonder what would happen if it was blown to smithereens and I got to start all over again," she says. As it turns out, Sam is having an affair– or, as she calls it, a "stupid college hook-up that never ended"– with Key's character, despite the fact that they're both married.
Despite the more dramatic parts of the trailer, there's also a lot of funny bits, including the gang all renting a party bus for an extreme wine tour and Savage engaging in some toilet humor over a game of tennis. The eight-episode comedy series will hit Netflix on July 14; while we wait, see some upcoming Netflix originals you didn't know were being made.
