Fassbender, McAvoy, Lawrence Returning For X-Men: Dark Phoenix

Simon Kinberg has assembled quite a cast for his upcoming film X-Men: Dark Phoenix. The screenwriter, who will make his directorial debut for the movie, recently landed Jessica Chastain as a villain, and it turns out he will bring back some familiar faces in the forms of James McAvoy's Professor X, Michael Fassbender's Magneto, Jennifer Lawrence's Mystique as well. Sophie Turner will lead the film as Jean Grey, with the film focusing on the comic book storyline in which her powers are greatly multiplied after she is imbued with a cosmic energy called the Phoenix Force. The Phoenix Force overtakes her personality and leads to her unleashing her power on the world, leading the rest of the X-Men to come together and stop her. Chastain is reportedly in talks to play Lilandra, the empress of an alien empire called the Shi'ar and one of the primary people looking for Dark Phoenix's imprisonment and execution.

In addition to McAvoy, Fassbender, and Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult's Beast, Alexandra Shipp's Storm, Tye Sheridan's Cyclops, and Kodi Smit-McPhee's Nightcrawler are also reportedly set to join the cast of the movie, which will begin filming soon in Montreal ahead of a Nov. 2, 2018 release. The cast is definitely exciting, especially Lawrence, who has been wary to confirm that she would return to the franchise again, and it just adds to the many reasons why we think Dark Phoenix will absolutely blow viewers away.
