Happy Death Day Trailer Teases Horror Gone Groundhog Day

Ever have the feeling you've done this before? That applies both to the plot of Happy Death Day and also to the fact that the premise is noticeably familiar.

Universal released a trailer for the upcoming horror from Blumhouse, the studio behind Get Out and Split, and it reveals a lot about the story, which is a twist on the theme of Groundhog Day and Tom Cruise's Edge of Tomorrow (also known as Live Die Repeat).

Co-written and directed by Christopher Landon (the Paranormal Activity franchise), the flick stars Jessica Rothe (La La Land) as a college student who is forced to relive the day of her murder over and over again until she's able to discover the identity of her killer.

Landon wrote Paranormal Activity 2, 3, and 4, along with Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones. He also recently directed Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse.

Happy Death Day will hit theaters on Oct. 13. Meanwhile, check out the trailer (along with the creepy new killer mask) above, and take a look at some of the horror movies that will blow everyone away this year.
